La fâvria

La fâvria

The forge, fâvria, where the blacksmith made the iron tools needed for daily activities, can be visited in Via Roma, thanks to the recent restoration and enhancement of the building. Knives, scissors, tongs, hammers, pincers, axes, shovels, scythes, ronconi, locks, handles, padlocks, keys, irons for animals, candlesticks and hearth wings were produced here.

The path of old trades passes through the fâvria. The route starts in the square in front of the Al Pical kiosk, goes up the Ledròn stream, where two mills and an iron-beater used to operate, reaches the fâvria and then descends to the Susaibes stream, near two restored kilns. Continuing along the Alba stream, you come to the iron bridge and return to close the loop.

Roiello Pellegrin
Montereale Valcellina

Pellegrin’s roiello

Running water was brought to San Leonardo Valcellina in 1837 thanks to the intuition of a local farmer, Giovanni Antonio Dell’Angelo, known as Pellegrin. Before that there was the “lagoon”, a stagnant and unhealthy pool, fed by the rains, in the centre of the square.
