The ravine of the Molassa torrent

The ravine of the Molassa torrent

The spectacular gorge of the Molassa torrent is part of the Forra del Cellina Nature Reserve (which can also be visited with the Valcellina Train): it can be admired between Andreis and Barcis. The old road that at the beginning of the 20th century brought the valley out of its isolation used to pass through it. Before, the only access was the mule track to the Croce pass, located between Mount Jouf and Mount Fara, and the first inhabited centre you came across was Bosplans. With the creation of the carriageway, Andreis remained on the fringes, no longer a place of obligatory passage.

Pellegrin’s roiello

Running water was brought to San Leonardo Valcellina in 1837 thanks to the intuition of a local farmer, Giovanni Antonio Dell’Angelo, known as Pellegrin. Before that there was the “lagoon”, a stagnant and unhealthy pool, fed by the rains, in the centre of the square.
